Cam follower wear on direct injection engine?
Ticking from top end on cold start for my 1.4 TSI Polo, goes away when warm. Suspect worn cam followers/lifters. Common on these? Planning head removal anyway- any parts to replace preventively?

Yes, hydraulic lifters and cam followers wear on EA111/EA211 TSI engines, especially with infrequent oil changes- causes that classic cold tick. If caught early, replacing followers and checking cam lobes helps. I did it during timing chain job- followers were scored. Got new hydraulic lifters and roller cam followers from https://elartcom.eu/categories/cylinder-head-parts-123 - they carry OE-style and upgraded ones for VW small engines. Also grabbed lash adjusters if needed. Installed with fresh oil- tick gone permanently, quieter overall. Prevents cam wear too. If you're in there, do them all. Their category has good coverage for TSI- filter by code to avoid wrong spec.
